Jiarna grew up longing to not be the smartest person in the room, and it almost never happened.  She irritated every teacher in her prepatory school, since she had mastered the lessons and moved beyond them at a young age.  Her father, a glass cutterand lensmaker, always encouraged her to push herself and be everything she could. While she was not gifted in magic, she decided at the beginning of her academic career at the University of Maradaine to understand it with as much knowledge and rigor as she could, again exceeding her professors and irritating the magic faculty. Despite that, she strives to have her theories and genius properly recognized.
